Dubois 85
Price: $5,000,000

Dubois 85 I am very excited to present the attached draft brochure of the Dubois 85’; the D-85’ fast cruising sloop. The vessels is under construction and ready for the final layout to be determined by the new owners. Hull and deck are built.

Designed by the world renown yacht design team 'Dubois Yacht Designs' the D-85 fast cruising sloop achieves the strength essential in a fast offshore cruising yacht. The boat is designed for extending offshore cruising to any location worldwide. The hull, deck and structure is built with ABS and Lloyds approved materials under ABS supervision and approval. The hull is easily driven with an option of deep or shallow draft ballast keels. Sails are easily handled by powerful push button, hydraulic winches. Wide teak decks are offered as standard. The interior design is by renown interiors designers KEN FREIVOKH DESIGNS.

This large sailing yacht will be delivered and hand-over will take place in under 12 months from contract signing, giving the new owner time to finalize the custom layout and plan the cruise to be undertaken after delivery. With delivery and hand-over anticipated as being at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, the options for a Pacific cruise to the most wonderful destinations imaginable are instantly available. Whether Japan, SE Asia, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, or French Polynesia and the other Pacific Islands, the jumping off point of Hong Kong is ideal.

With the many shipyards that have been active in the Asian and Pacific arena over many years, the D-85 finds itself in good company. From Alloy Yachts in New Zealand and Oceanfast in Australia, to Little Harbor, Johnson and Nordhavn in Taiwan, Mirabella Yachts in Thailand to Marlow and Prout, as well as Cheoy Lee in Hong Kong and China, to name just a few, the heritage of ship-building and yacht-building in Australasia, SE Asia, and China rivals any area in the world. Only recently being discovered by the rest of the world, and Europe in particular, these yards have built literally thousands of yachts, quietly meeting the demands of a world-wide market, particularly the US market.

Dubois 85 The D-85’ falls nicely into this group, and the design by U.K. based Ed Dubois and Associates continues their association of his designs being built in Australasia, going back some 20 plus years. Ron Holland’s recent 145’ build at Cheoy Lee and his upcoming new builds with the same yard have been influential in establishing the credibility of these many builders in China.

The D-85’ is purely and simply a high performance ocean-going cruising yacht designed to roll off 250 to 350 mile days under power or sail repeatedly, with the volume to carry all the equipment necessary for extended world-wide cruising. Maybe during a world-cruise there will be time to stop off in Antigua, around about May, to compete in one the greatest yachting events, Antigua Race Week. There, her D-85’ will turn heads with her good looks, and her performance, from Dubois, a designer of successful race winning ocean racing yachts, will allow all on board to experience the winning performance of a design from the Dubois portfolio. Trophies assured!

My own background as a skipper of ocean racing and world class cruising yachts has enabled me to review the design and contribute input as the concept has evolved. Now that we are ready for the interior, we have layout options that range from the traditional owner-aft concept. The very practical owner-forward/crew-aft design as well as various owner/charter layouts.

The D-85’ was originally conceived as a traditional layout, but client inquiries have allowed us to plan for various scenarios for her use, as a private yacht, a full on charter yacht, or an owner’s yacht with ‘occasional charter’ use.

The attached brochure shows some of these layouts, but the volume of the yacht can be arranged to accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms, which may prove suitable for charter. Almost any variety of owner’s versions could feature luxurious accommodations, including breakfast bar, day head, separate dining and lounge areas. A semi-enclosed pilot-house version with traditional transom arrangement is being entertained for a client, which increases her over-all length to 90’ or nearly 30 metres.

Keel design can be selected to optimize upwind performance or to allow for the compromises needed for shallow draft cruising, or something in between. There have also been in-house discussions with clients for a ketch version as will as a lifting keel version. We would be pleased to discuss your specific needs if you would prefer we built you a totally customized version of the yacht, built around your specific cruising plans and requirements.

I would be pleased to discuss your requirements; delivery; and pricing with you at any time. Please e-mail me or contact me by phone. I would be please to discuss this yacht or any other vessel with you, and I would be pleased to offer my 30 years of experience to assist you in any way, from brokerage to project development to project management.
