Good-day to you.
NEWS...June,July 2007.
After a hectic 3 day visit to Hong Kong to participate in the launch of the first of the new MARCO POLO series of Exploration Yachts, it was nice to get back to Fort Lauderdale to review the boat, away from the hospitality provided by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club; yacht designer Ron Holland; Cheoy Lee; and the Owner of the new 147' (45m) MARCO POLO.

MARCO POLO
This new vessel will have special appeal to the sailing yachtsman who is interested in crossing over from sail to power, or some-one looking for true offshore adventure. Yacht designer Ron Holland’s sailing designs have always been significant, and his many new builds at Royal Huisman and Perini, amongst others, attests to his sailing design skills. With the success of the 150’ Motor Yacht AFFINITY several years ago, it was surprising that a span of several years separated his first and second motor yacht designs, but now, with MARCO POLO on her way from S.E. Asia to Monaco, once again Ron has confirmed his ability to design a true offshore capable long range cruising motor yacht.
The new Marco Polo Series can be customized in many ways, and her combination of steel hull and composite superstructure keeps her just under the 500 ton Class, an important cost saving for new builds. At around US$20million, with complete customization, the new series meets the needs of the many new buyers considering long range offshore motor yachts.
In consultation with Ron, we are putting together proposals for a 50metre true offshore long range motor yacht as well as 45metre and 50metre fast cruising yachts, with performance in Maxi events being prioritized for the sailing yachts. These vessels will all combine high tech composite superstructures with aluminum hulls for the sailing yachts, and high tech steel construction for the motor yacht hull. Performance on long range oceanic passages will be the priorities for all three designs.

After Hong Kong, it was a quick overseas trip again, this time to Ireland and England to discuss brokerage vessel with clients in Dublin and London.
With the sale of the MANGUSTA 86 in March, a 2006 AZIMUT in May and a Pacific Mariner in June, it has been a hectic but interesting first half to 2007. As I get ready to start the second half of the year, there is every sign that part two of 2007 will be just as busy, with inspection for survey of a 160’plus sailing yacht and a 155’ motor yacht scheduled for July and August respectively.
Before long it will be time to think about airline flights and hotels in Monaco for the upcoming Monaco Boat Show. For the third year in succession, we will have a display booth. Our position at the Monaco Boat Show is intended equally to welcome new clients as well as to ensure those of you will drop by to simply take a break, or catch up with one of our brokers. In particular, I encourage you to give me a call if I can assist you in any way during Monaco.
With my knowledge of both large sailing yachts and large motor yachts that are currently for sale, World-wide, I hope you will accept my invitation to call or e-mail me at anytime it suits your schedule.
Cheers for now,
Mike
