OHANA, Large Sailing Yacht for Charter

As 2010 was a very good year for us, we expect the trend to continue in 2011, based on discussions with several potential clients.

The past year has been full of progress for OYI in sales, new construction and charter of large yachts.

We have expanded our brokerage line-up. Brokers Mike Streeter and Lin Sharpe are on board in Fort Lauderdale, while Niel Gow is now representing us in Europe, based in Nice, France.

I have also just returned from an inspection of several Perini Navi vessels during the New Year period. Mike continues his search for the "ideal" 140’ motor yacht for his 2 different clients.

Our charter division is up and running, and our new Charter Broker will be able to assist clients with every style of charter yacht, from the largest mega-yacht to smaller group charters and shorter charters on smaller vessels, both power and sail. Whether looking for a charter in Europe; the Pacific; the Caribbean or Miami, our charter broker can assist you.

With a specialist broker assistant to help me with the mega-yacht and new-build market, we will have expanded from an initial company of just one a year ago, to 7, come the end of February.

The 2010 season kicked off for us with the delivery of a brand new Hatteras 77’ Sport-fish to a new client from Dubai. This followed on from the 74’ Viking Sport-fish we sent across a year earlier. But, undoubtedly the highlight of 2010 for us all was the signing by an existing client of ours to take delivery of a new-build Heesen 167’ (51m) Motor Yacht. In breaking the 50m barrier with our first complete new-build, with a company as well known as Heesen, has given us great incentive to pursue new ventures in the new construction market. The sale of several smaller vessels late in the season, which went out of the country, rounded out a great first year for Ocean Yachting International.

We have formed relationships with several builders who can assure us of reduced building times along with reduced pricing for custom builds in the 140’ and above market. That is our "Fast-track" program initiated at the 2010 Fort Lauderdale Show. In conjunction with designer Ron Holland as our consultant, we have involved several ship-yards into the "Fast-track" program both here in the US and also in Europe.

Late in 2009 I predicted with some confidence that 2010 would be a good year for us, here at OYI, and I am pleased to report that that prediction has been accurate. I believe we have got it right with our emphasis on "yacht buyer’s" needs. Although we work willingly with sellers, our mix is biased towards the "yacht buyer".

Our emphasis towards finding real “buyers” works to the advantage of “sellers” as well. From our data we have shown that 90% of the inquiries to our web-site are from “buyers’. If you are looking to ‘list’ your yacht for sale; OYI is well positioned to present your vessel to a client seeking a similar vessel. Your vessel will be the first vessel presented, if it matches the “buyers” parameters. Of course we are only ‘listing’ quality well kept yachts that will survey well.
